Old World Color Inspiration

Old World Color Inspiration

Star Harbor, Lake Tahoe, California

This project was a color job for a new owner of an "OLD" condo (Star Harbor is a vintage condo complex), a lakefront property in Tahoe.

The owner chose her colors, began to paint, and the results were not what she had imagined—she couldn't stand skip troweled walls. Every contractor she talked to told her it would be impossible to smooth the walls, but I knew that we could create an old world look. And she agreed.

To get this look, I applied compound mud to a primed wall, sealed them, then made a wax mixture which I applied by hand and rubbed to a smooth, mottled, waxy finish.  The downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms got a regular paint job, and I painted the upstairs bedroom and bathroom in Ralph Lauren metallic walls with verdis metal finished wood trim.
